Takeda To Recur On New Comedy “Panhandle”

(L) Luke Kirby and (R) Tiana Okoye

Producers have added TV/Film actor Scott Takeda to the new Sony Pictures Television comedy series “Panhandle,” filming through early summer. He will recur as a guest star for three to four episodes as Mayor Carter Iwanaga, described as a part time mayor and full time asshole opposite series leads Luke Kirby (who won a Primetime Emmy for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Tiana Okoye (“The Good Place”).

(L to R) Lesley Ann Warren, Lorena Izzo, Glenn Morshower, Wallace Smith and Melanie Minichino

Takeda joins a cast with a slew of series regulars including Lesley Ann Warren (“Clue), Lorenza Izzo (HBO’s “Hacks”), Glenn Morshower (“24”), Wallace Smith (“Black Lightning”) and Melanie Minichino (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”).

Panhandle follows an eccentric agoraphobic arm-chair detective (Kirby) and a reluctant traffic cop (Okoye) as they try to solve a crime while dealing with a slew of only-in-Florida characters.

Deadline reports that Nick Stoller (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall’) and Carla Kettner (‘Bones’) are leading the eight-episode series. The show will have a nine-month exclusive run on Spectrum Originals before moving to the Roku Channel.
