This is the highly-anticipated film by director Jennifer Fox who won for her documentary “Beirut: The Last Home Movie” in 1988. “The Tale” is her first narrative film which she also wrote the screenplay. It stars two-time Oscar-nominee Laura Dern, Oscar-winner Ellen Burstyn, along with Elizabeth Debicki, Jason Ritter, Oscar-winner Common, and the late John Heard in one of his last roles. Scott Takeda is cast in the supporting role of Mr. Watada.
“I’m so excited for Sundance,” said Takeda. “This festival has an exciting history of selecting important independent films like ‘Winter’s Bone” and ‘The Usual Suspects.’ I’m excited to be attending this one.”
“The Tale” is produced by Oren Moverman, Lawrence Inglee, Laura Rister, Mynette Louie, Sol Bondy, and Simone Pero. Gamechanger Films is the production company. The festival will run 10 days from January 18 through 28th.
